Capturing Memories

I’m so excited for your engagement session! This is such a sweet season to celebrate your love and it’s also the perfect chance for us to spend some time together before your wedding day. My goal is always for your photos to feel natural, timeless, and true to who you are as a couple—so let’s talk about how to make that happen.

WHAT TO WEAR?

Your outfits play such a big role in creating the overall look and feel of your images. My photography style leans toward muted, elegant tones that photograph beautifully against natural backdrops.

Here are a few tips when choosing what to wear:

I. Muted colors photograph best

think soft neutrals, pastels, earthy tones, or rich, subtle shades. These tones are flattering and ensure the focus stays on you and your connection.

II. Patterns are welcome, but keep them soft and understated

Delicate florals, light plaids, or subtle textures can add depth without being distracting.

III. Coordinate, but don’t match

Instead of wearing the exact same colors, choose a palette that complements each other. For example, if one of you wears a muted blue, the other might wear a cream or warm tan.

One more casual and one a little more dressed up gives you a nice mix in your gallery.

IIII. Dress it up a little

IIIII. Bring two outfits if you’d like variety

Engagement photos are the perfect excuse to lean toward elevated, timeless outfits. Flowing dresses, tailored pants, or classic button-downs always photograph beautifully.

What to Expect During the Session

Don’t stress about what to do in front of the camera—that’s my job. My approach is warm, natural, and easygoing. You don’t need to worry about being “perfect” in front of the camera—I’ll guide you through flattering poses and natural prompts that help bring out genuine emotion. Think less stiff posing, more authentic moments like walking hand in hand, sharing a laugh, or pausing for a quiet moment together.

Relax & Enjoy Yourselves

This part is so important—I want your engagement session to feel fun, not like a chore. Think of it as a date night with a photographer third-wheeling. You’ll be walking, talking, laughing, and just soaking in the moment. The more relaxed you are, the more genuine your photos will feel.

It’s also such a great way to get comfortable before the wedding. Most couples haven’t had professional photos taken together, so it’s totally normal to feel nervous at first. But after your engagement session, you’ll see how easy it is—and that comfort will carry over to your wedding day. Instead of feeling stiff or camera-shy, you’ll already know what to expect and can just enjoy being fully present.

A Few Final Tips

  • Be on time so we can catch the best light (golden hour is my favorite).
  • Empty your pockets—phones and keys can be distracting in photos.
  • Relax and enjoy each other. This is truly about celebrating your relationship.
  • Trust the Process- I'll take care of the rest!

Your engagement session should feel like a fun, romantic date with a camera there to capture it all. By choosing muted tones, coordinating thoughtfully, and trusting the process, you’ll have photos that reflect both your love and my timeless, elegant style.
